Stress Busters

It has been pretty hectic these couple of weeks for all of us sleep-deprived CreComms. And when I say hectic, I mean hair-pulling-lucky-to-have-four-hours-of-sleep HECTIC! Walking CreComm ZOMBIES is what we are! @.@
Never have I been this busy in my life! Deadlines here, deadlines there, meetings, articles, layouts, out-of-school assignments AND regular classes! Then add the days I had to be at Church! The weekends didn’t feel like weekends anymore. I just can't believe I survived! I was even able to go out with my friends a couple times! The only downtime I had was during bus rides and bathroom breaks. LOL
That’s why during those weeks up ‘till now, my mantra has become “un jour a la fois,” which means “one day at a time” in French. I even got my friends to say it over and over with me. =))
On the other hand...I am amazed at myself for getting everything done. It’s true that “if you want something done, give it to a busy person” cause it’s just another thing to check off their to do list. ;p
Oh, our busy-ness ain’t over yet...but at least we've passed the busiest few weeks. The deadlines are a bit spread out now. :) But stress, stress, stress will still come our way.
So I have come up with a little list of what I do to cope with hectic-ness so that I don't go insane. =))

1. I go on Facebook...a lot.
C’mon, who doesn’t Facebook stalk? Hahaha. The downside of Facebooking is that it will tend to throw you off schedule. You’re looking at pictures...scrolling, scrolling...and before you know it, it’s been five hours and you’ve been sitting at the same spot since this morning. =)) ...But at least you’re not insane. LOL

2. I play Tetris on...wait for it...........Facebook.
Just type in “tetris” and click on the application. My gosh it’s addicting. LOL. You play against other players from around the world! Hahaha

3. I go out with friends.
Now I wouldn’t know what I’d do without my friends. They literally keep me sane! They’re the much needed breaks in between all the work! :D

4. I sleep.
When you’re this tired, you could sleep anywhere, anytime! Just close your eyes and you feel yourself start to drift. =))

5. I surf the internet.
When I’m done Facebooking but I’m not yet in the mood for homework, I’d go online and do whatever. Read the news, watch videos, or window shop.

6. I do housework.
Anything to delay starting my homework. LOL kidding! =))
There. Done. Now on to more homework...not! I’m giving myself the night off. To rest is what I need. :)

Blurbs.

I'm supposed to be coming up with a hundred word blurb about myself right now. But why is it so hard for me to do it when I didn't have any trouble doing it for my friends???

Here're some blurbs I made about 2 years ago for our dance concert souvenir booklet.

Blah.

Tin:
At a glance you would see a polished Tin walking along until she gives you her trade mark kiss-wink (sabay giling) greeting.  Hip hop dancer turned cheerleader, this alluring girl entered the squad unbelievably flexy.  Tin, who is fond of anything glittered, can bend and twist surpassing all the laws of the body which just leaves the squad mesmerized.  The most malambing, Tin possesses an endearing smile which effectively hides her equally endearing naughty side.  A self confessed camera lover that Tin is, she gamely poses whenever a camera is pointed at her.  Behind all the glitz and glamour of this pretty pepper who refers to her friends as “dear”, is not only a pep mate but also a sister whom you could talk to about anything.
Cath:
Behind the façade of her ever present dimpled smiles, is a kick ass PEPper who executes immaculate straddles that just makes the whole squad enter a trance and spontaneously spit out praises. Seemingly quiet, you’d never know what kind of funnies and naughties are swirling inside of her until she lets you in on her plans. A cheerleader since forever, this poised princess continued her passion in college in hopes of fulfilling her dream of doing a somersault. Cath was the very first to learn how to do a back-hand spring which brings her dangerously close to fulfilling that dream of hers! Cheers to treasurer Cath!

Zuey:
Just with the twinkle of Zuey’s purple eyes, frustration turns into passion. With her freshly polished finger nails, this cheerleader is determined as hell whenever she does a stunt. Humorously vain, this college and squad sophie always makes it a point to wear pretty eye shadow when she trains. Zuey, whose very passion is to…….giggle (after cheerleading of course), has always shown consistent progress which makes her presence in the squad indispensable. The perfect mix of her charm, personality and style has brought her to where she is now.

Nothing beats having a “Zuey” in this sisterhood called the MC Pep Squad.

Now, back to work! ;p

Starry, Starry Night

"Constellation" used to be my favourite word when I was about 7 years old. I wrote it down in capital letters and taped it to the back of my closet so that whenever I'd open it, I'd see it. Ever since then, I've loved stars.

In the Philippines it'd already be dark by around 8pm. That's when the stars come out. :) My sisters and I would just look up and we'd go, "There's the big dipper!" which is the easiest to find. Then the little dipper. Then Orion, which we refer to as "Orion's Thing" (referring to his belt of course) [ex. "There's Orion's Thing!!" :D] ...just to be different. Then I'd go off and look for my constellation, the Scales (for Libra) ...which is also easy to find because one of the dippers' handles point to it. ;p Does it make sense if I say that the stars up here in Canada are much bigger and brighter than when we see them in the Phils? Maybe because we're closer? Hihihi me don't know.

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. Wish I may, wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight. *closes eyes* So, yep...I still do that...automatically to the first star I see. :) And come to think of it, I always have the same wish. I think it's time to change. Hahaha =))

I pretty much like anything that's connected to stars, especially songs. :)

But here's one particular song that I've been fond of since I was little. But it was only in college that I learned the depth and meaning of the song, so I liked it even better. :) It was inspired by Van Gogh's painting, "Starry Night," which of course I also like. ;p

Vincent - Don McLean

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflecting Vincent's eyes of China blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hands

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you Vincent
This world was never meant for one as
beautiful as you

Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
A silver thorn on a bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will

Stars. I'll never get tired of them. :)
